The HighEdWeb Volunteer Committee leads the development of initiatives and activities to inform, engage, and celebrate the volunteers that power the association. The committee is also responsible for assisting other association committees in recruiting new volunteers.
The Rewards and Recognition Coordinator leads planning and implementation efforts to support and celebrate HighEdWeb volunteers, such as the Volunteer Rewards Program, Volunteer Survey, and volunteer appreciation activities.
This role is typically filled by two volunteers to help balance the responsibilities and time commitment, and it also allows the volunteers to collaborate and learn from each other.
This is a rewarding community engagement experience and a great entry point for professionals new to HighEdWeb or volunteering. You’ll have the opportunity to network, learn new skills, participate in strategy discussions, and support the HighEdWeb community.
Responsibilities
- Support the annual implementation of the Volunteer Rewards Program.
- Support the planning, analysis, and implementation of the annual Volunteer Survey.
- Support the planning and implementation of the HighEdWeb Badges Program.
- Collaborate with committee members to develop strategies and activities for celebrating and showing appreciation for HighEdWeb volunteers.
- Network and get to know volunteers from across the association to help support and nurture a vibrant volunteer community.
- Virtually attend monthly committee meetings.
- Participate in committee discussions during meetings or in between meetings via Slack.
- Share feedback on projects fellow committee members are working on.
- Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Qualifications
Required
- Membership in the association, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
- Ability to engage diverse communities and build relationships.
- Strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to satisfactorily complete tasks in a timely manner (or communicate in advance if help or more time is needed).
Preferred
- Experience with event planning.
- Ability to work with team communication platforms like Slack.
- Proficiency with ClickUp or similar project management tools.
- Proficiency with Google Drive.
(Training is provided for all software or systems committee members may use.)
Estimated Time Commitment
- Committee members are expected to virtually attend monthly meetings, which are up to 1 hour, once per month.
- Additionally, this role may require a minimum of 2-3 hours per month for regular committee work for most of the year, with a peak time commitment of 4-6 hours per month once or twice to support program rollouts.
Length of Appointment
Up to two years, with the option to renew.
