Volunteer Committee: Marketing Support

HighEdWeb Volunteer Committee members are responsible for assisting other association and conference committees in recruiting, developing and managing volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Volunteer Committee chair and members to determine the best marketing and communication activities to promote volunteering as well as volunteer events and news.
  • Attend all committee meetings and provide insight into how best the committee can collaborate to promote opportunities and initiatives for the Association.
  • Implements email and social media campaigns, provides content for the volunteer website and Link Journal, and develops printed publications — with support from designers, video editors and writers.
  • Contributes to the editorial content calendar as a way to coordinate with other committees.
  • Submits volunteer related content for the monthly Association newsletter.
  • Monitors / posts, announcements in the #heweb-volunteer Slack channel as needed.
  • Serves as a liaison to the Marketing and Communications Committee and actively attends their meetings.

Qualifications

Required

  • Membership in the association, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience as a marketing, social media, or communications coordinator for an organization or business.
  • Understanding of organizational branding and how best to communicate ideas and initiatives.
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete tasks in a timely manner.

Preferred

  • Experience with volunteer recruitment and development.
  • Work experience in a marketing, communications, or public relations environment.
  • Ability to produce content, strategies and social media posts.
  • Ability to work with project management/team communication platforms such as Slack, Clickup, etc.
  • Google Drive proficiency.
  • Proficiency with email marketing software or CRM systems.

Estimated time commitment

  • Committee members are expected to virtually attend monthly meetings.
  • Additionally, committee members could be expected to complete 1-1.5 hours monthly of committee work on their own to work on committee projects.

Time commitment

2 years, with option to renew for up to 3 consecutive terms

Committee members who reliably serve on this committee would be eligible to serve as a committee chair.

Conference Attendance

Annual and/or regional conference attendance is not required, and conference registration is not waived for this position.
