The Safety, Diversity and Inclusion Committee works to ensure that our members feel safe and welcome within our community, both during the conference and throughout the year. As a committee member, you will advise and assist Digital Collegium by reviewing policies and processes, staffing and/or recruiting for the conference hotline which supports our Code of Conduct, and maintaining confidential reports.
Responsibilities
- Attend regular monthly meetings.
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Represent Digital Collegium in a professional manner.
- Review and support Digital Collegium policies and processes.
- Act as a Digital Collegium resource for safety and inclusion issues.
Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with diverse populations.
- Strong conflict-resolution, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in equity and inclusion from intersectional lenses including ability, race, gender, sexual orientation, class, ethnicity, nationality, culture, age, faith, etc.
- Experience supporting policies and guidelines that address inclusion.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in appropriate situations.
- Membership in Digital Collegium, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
Preferred
- Experience moderating online spaces, such as Slack.
- Experience handling sensitive issues in a timely manner, especially in crisis intervention/advocacy.
Estimated time commitment
- A committee member is expected to virtually attend monthly meetings.
- The time commitment for committee work varies, with a minimum of 2 hours per month and a peak commitment during October to meet the needs of our annual conference, as estimated below:

Conference attendance
- Annual/regional conference attendance is not required. Conference registration is not waived for this position.
