The Membership Committee is responsible for the outreach and engagement of the Association to our members. Whether in-person at our events or via our digital communications, the committee upholds the mission of HighEdWeb to our constituents.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a committee leader to develop and promote membership benefits.
- Facilitate regular monthly meetings:
- Discuss agenda items with the chair and help with related documentation.
- Ensure meeting notes are taken and shared.
- Coordinate with the chair for setting action items and following up with members.
- Aid in recruiting and developing committee members as needed.
- Serve in place of the chair as needed.
- Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Qualifications
Required
- Membership in the association, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
- Thinks in terms of Association goals.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate with committee members, staff, and other groups.
- Ability to project manage and adhere to strict deadlines.
Preferred
- Skilled in project management, including how to plan and execute projects with a team.
- Supports orderly procedures for conducting work.
- Familiarity with the Association.
- 2+ years of experience at a higher educational institution.
- Proficiency with Clickup or similar project management tools.
- Google Drive proficiency.
Estimated time commitment
- The vice chair is expected to virtually attend monthly meetings.
- The time commitment for committee work varies, with a minimum of 4-5 hours per month and a peak commitment of 10 hours per month.
Length of appointment
Up to two years as vice chair with the expectation to become chair once that position is vacated.

Conference attendance
Annual/regional conference attendance isn’t required but is encouraged. Conference registration isn’t waived for this position.
