The charge of the Marketing and Communications Committee is to highlight the expertise of current membership by promoting Digital Collegium members as experts through Digital Collegium’s social media channels and other online assets. The committee will also encourage — through internal communication — volunteerism in the form of committee participation as well as the sharing of professional resources, guidelines and personal knowledge between members.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Marketing and Communications chair and members to serve as the marketing position on another committee in Digital Collegium
- Provide expertise and assistance to the Marketing and Communications committee and your liaison committee including email communications, social media posts, and managing assignments in the editorial content calendar.
- Assists with marketing efforts for Digital Collegium initiatives outside of Annual Conference registrations
- Attend all committee meetings and provide insight into how best the committee can collaborate to promote opportunities and initiatives for Digital Collegium.
- Serve as the marketing and communications liaison for another Digital Collegium committee, to help guide and support their communication needs. This includes actively attending their meetings and participating in their communication planning.
- Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Qualifications
Required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of CRM and social media platforms, including best practices and promotional opportunities
- Experience as a marketing, social media, or communications coordinator for an organization or business.
- Understanding of organizational branding and how best to communicate ideas and initiatives.
- Proficient in content strategy theory and application.
- Membership in Digital Collegium, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
- Familiarity with Digital Collegium.
- Ability to adhere to deadlines.
Preferred
- Work experience in a marketing, communications, or public relations environment.
- Ability to produce content, strategies, and social media posts.
- Ability to work with project management/team communication platforms such as Slack, Clickup, etc.
- Google Drive proficiency.
Estimated time commitment
- Members are expected to virtually attend monthly scheduled Marketing and Communications Committee meetings.
- The time commitment for committee work varies, with a minimum of 1-2 hours per week.
Length of appointment
- One to two years, with option to renew for additional terms

Conference attendance
Conference attendance is not expected. Conference registration is not waived for this position.
