The designer creates the event brand identity within the guidelines of Digital Collegium and produces designs for all collateral as a branded suite. This role works with the Marketing and Communications Lead, Social Media Coordinator, and Platform Coordinator to ensure that the event’s brand identity is represented cohesively through all channels and collateral.
Responsibilities
General
- Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Before the event
- Work with the web coordinator to develop the base wireframe and style prototype for the event website.
- Develop a design style guide for the event (fonts, logo, swatch colors)
- Design collateral needed to market the event, such as:
- Web ads and badges
- Social media promotions (like Facebook event imagery)
- Marketing email design
During the event
- Assist with conference setup
- Attend all committee meetings
- Develop ad hoc signage or other materials to support communication efforts
After the event
- Ensure all design files and related files are archived within the event project management site for future reference
Qualifications
Required
- Membership in Digital Collegium, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
- A detail oriented person that can stay on top of multiple responsibilities
- Experience with graphic design development for multiple formats and platform, and brand identity development
Preferred
- Knowledge and experience with web graphic design
Estimated time commitment
- As a member of the planning committee, this position is expected to virtually attend monthly meetings
- The time commitment for committee work varies, with a minimum of 1-2 hours per month and a peak commitment of 1 hour/day at times of deadlines (identifying brand details, setting up the website, preparing signs, etc.)
- There will be a couple of hours required after the event to prepare a final report with recommendations for future events
Length of appointment
Up to 12 months with the option to renew for a subsequent term
