Anyone who has looked closely at retention data knows that students are much more likely to fail or drop out of online classes than face-to-face class. This is an overwhelming problem that requires complex and expensive programs to solve. Or does it? We will look at an experiment that shows how just 10 minutes of human connection in online classes increases retention. Instead of expensive technology and course overhauls, the simple conclusion is clear: we can move the needle on online retention with just a few minutes of intentional human connection.
